XFELs: Perspectives and Opportunities for Science
This is an exciting time for science with X‑ray free‑electron lasers (XFELs). With five facilities in operation and major upgrades underway, the possibilities for groundbreaking research using XFELs are greater than ever.
The 2026 XFEL Workshop is the sixth in the series (Copenhagen 2021 and 2022, Aalborg 2023, Aarhus 2024, Odense 2025). The aim is to bring together the Danish XFEL user community and representatives from XFEL facilities to share experiences, explore new opportunities, and develop ideas for research using the ultrabright and ultrashort x-ray flashes provided by these exciting new x-ray sources.
The workshop gathers both experimental and theoretical researchers working across XFEL‑related fields.
It will take place May 18–19, 2026, at the University of Copenhagen, as a satellite meeting to the main DanScatt Annual Meeting.
The sessions will feature presentations from invited speakers followed by discussion.
Important:
The poster session is a key part of the workshop. All participants – including students and postdocs – are encouraged to bring a poster. No abstract submission is required. This is an opportunity to present your ideas and discuss XFEL‑related research with other experts.
Sandwich lunch, coffee, and refreshments will be provided.
