Call for nominations for the DanScatt PhD prize

Eligibility

The DanScatt PhD prize is awarded to a young scientist who has submitted their PhD thesis within 18 months before the deadline of the call.

It is not required that the nominee defends the PhD thesis or receivepreliminary approval by the PhD Assessment Committee before the deadline. It is a requirement, however, that the PhD supervisor can vouch for the quality of the thesis.

Selection Criteria

The selection is based on the perspectives and impact of the nominee’s work within the field of DanScatt activities. The letter of nomination must address the nominee’s accomplishments within the following specific criteriaaligned with the DanScatt action plan:

  1. Scientific Contributions: The nominee's work demonstrates significant scientific results at a high international level.
  2. Method Development: The nominee has contributed significantly to the development of new methods.
  3. Innovation: The nominee's work includes activities that promote innovation.
  4. Education and Outreach: The nominee has engaged in education and outreach activities to promote the field.

 A nominee must excel in at least one of the above areas to be considered.

In addition, the letter may include a discussion of the ability of the nominee to work both independently and constructively in a collaborative environment.

Finally, the nomination letter must discuss the ability of the nominee to give an engaging lecture suitable for an audience at the DanScatt Annual Meeting. 
The successful nominee(s) will be invited (and must be able) to attend and present their thesis work at the annual DanScatt 
meeting on May 19, 2026.  

Submission Requirements

Please submit the following documents:

  • A letter of nomination addressing the selection criteria

  • The nominee's CV

  • A publication list for the nominee

  • A PDF file of the nominee's PhD thesis

 

All documents are to be submitted by the PhD Supervisor to the DanScatt Secretariat by mail to acmb@dtu.dk.

Deadline for submission is April 12026. 

The PhD supervisors will be notified of the panel’s decision four weeks prior to the DanScatt Annual Meeting.
